Urine Sample Collection

Urine sample collection is a vital diagnostic tool used to assess various aspects of a patient’s health.
It is commonly employed to detect infections, monitor kidney function, and evaluate metabolic conditions such as diabetes.
At Pephla Laboratory, we ensure that your sample is collected and handled with precision to ensure accurate test results.
How to Collect a Urine Sample:
  1. Clean Catch Method (Midstream Urine):

    • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
    • Clean the genital area with a provided antiseptic wipe.
    • Begin urinating into the toilet, then collect a midstream sample in the sterile container, ensuring the container does not touch your skin.
    • Finish urinating into the toilet.
  2. 24-Hour Urine Collection:

    • This method collects all urine over a 24-hour period to help evaluate kidney function and other metabolic processes.
    • Discard the first urine sample in the morning, then collect all urine throughout the day, including the first urine the following morning.
  3. Labeling and Storage:

    • Clearly label the sample container with your name, date, and time of collection.
    • If not delivered immediately, store the sample in a cool place, usually in a refrigerator, until it can be submitted to the lab.
